Building Futures believes that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. That’s why all of our programs and services are aimed at helping our clients overcome their obstacles to permanent housing. Domestic Violence Program participants are eligible for the full range of our housing services. If you are experiencing domestic violence and need help, call Building Futures’ 24-hour crisis line: 1-866-A-WAY-OUT, 1-866-292-9688.April is National Fair Housing Month, commemorating the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. This Act prohibits discrimination in renting, buying, or financing homes.

Program update: What a great day! On the last day of March, our hardworking staff were successful in securing housing for eight individuals! What ends homelessness? Housing.

These adults connected with Building Futures at the Lewelling Shelter and Drop-In Center in San Leandro. Since opening in June 2025, Building Futures has provided essential services to more than 550 adults experiencing homelessness at the Lewelling Drop-In Center. The comprehensive Drop-In Center provides showers, laundry, meals, housing navigation, case management and support services. The Shelter also has 29 rooms and serves an emergency shelter to help homeless individuals as they make the journey towards permanent housing. The Lewelling Shelter and Drop-In Center is transforming lives!
