October Is DVAM!
October officially marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). DVAM was created to connect advocates, individuals and communities across the nation who are working to end violence. What is Domestic Violence? Domestic violence, also known as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a pattern of coercive behaviors in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Building Futures provides a range of services for survivors of domestic violence. If you don’t feel safe, call us 24/7. Building Futures’ 24-hour crisis line: 1-866-292-9688 or 1-866-A-WAY-OUT
Follow us all month long on Facebook and Instagram for prevention resources, information centered on building healthy relationships, statistics about domestic violence (DV) and more.

Invitation-only Wellness Fair in Alameda
In Alameda, we’re excited to host a Wellness Fair for one of our programs that supports more than four dozen residents—survivors of domestic violence who are rebuilding their lives. The Fair will bring together community members, local partners, and service providers to share resources, promote healthy living, and build stronger connections across our community. This will be an intimate, invitation-only gathering, designed to create a safe and welcoming space for survivors to connect, learn, and thrive. Our Domestic Violence Outreach team will play a central role. We’ll host our own table, share resources, and highlight the many ways our DV programs support survivors. By spreading the word, we hope attendees will not only benefit themselves but also help ensure more survivors know about the services available to them.
Check out our banner in downtown San Leandro across East 14th Street from October 13-27.
