Together, we helped 28 amazing school-age kids* at our shelters—ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade—start their school year with confidence and pride. Here’s what your support made possible:

• More than $3,700 raised—thank you to each and every individual donor who contributed!

• Building Futures’ staff ensured each student received clothes, shoes,or gift cards for their specific needs.

• We also provided backpacks and school supplies for all students, thanks to community-led back-to-school drives.

• They were all set and ready to walk into their first day of school feeling prepared, seen, and supported.

Your donations did more than buy supplies for families at the Alameda Midway Shelter, the San Leandro Shelter, the Sister Me Home Domestic Violence Safe House and Bessie Coleman Court — one mom cried tears of joy feeling so relieved to have new shoes and clothes for the first days of school for her 9 year old son!
