✨ #VolunteerAppreciation Our incredible Dinner Donors are the heart of Midway Shelter ✨

We recently gathered at the newly renovated Midway Shelter in Alameda for a heartfelt 💜 Dinner Donor Volunteer Appreciation Event—a special moment to honor those who bring warm, nourishing meals 🍽️ to the women and children we serve.

🥘 29 Dinner Donors + 10 staff and board members came together to celebrate those currently providing meals for Midway Shelter residents. Among them were both newer volunteers and longtime supporters, including one of our longest-standing groups, St. Joseph Basilica, which has donated twice a week for over 25 years! 🙌💛

♥️ With the theme “Food Is Love Made Visible”, we honored our dedicated Dinner Donors and marked the grand re-opening 🎉 of Midway Shelter after a major renovation—made possible by the City of Alameda and Alameda Homeless Network (AHN). 🏡

💬 Sabrina Thomas, our Emergency Services Program Director, shared a powerful story about a family who arrived at the shelter just two weeks ago—a reminder of why these meals matter so much.

👩‍🍳 Our shelters rely almost entirely on volunteers to provide evening meals, and Dinner Donors make an incredible impact. These generous individuals and groups prepare well-balanced meals for 25 women and children, allowing our staff to focus on providing critical services—helping clients navigate housing, employment, and stability.

💜 To all who have been a Dinner Donor—THANK YOU for showing up, meal after meal, to nourish not just bodies but spirits. Your kindness makes a world of difference! 🌍✨
