[Oakland, CA] Oakland-based Waking Waves Studio is hosting an October fundraiser to benefit Building Futures, a nonprofit agency serving people building new lives after domestic violence and homelessness.

On October 17th, the public is invited to join a very special Zumba+Pilates class led by Adriana Oyarzun and Tina Ory at a beautiful and private rooftop garden in Montclair. This is an outdoor class, surrounded by trees and very private. The parking lot will be open until 9 pm and parking is included in purchased tickets. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Building Futures!

The class will begin with a 10-minute stretch, followed by forty minutes of dance and a 10-minute cool-down/stretch, and is designed for people of all fitness levels and ages. Limited tickets available! Purchase at tinyurl.com/BuildingFuturesDonations

Tickets should be pre-purchased. Members of the public may purchase a ticket whether or not they will attend. A Building Futures staff representative will be in attendance.

Launched in 2020, Making Waves hosts classes in Zumba, dance, sculpt, yoga, and meditation. “Community, spreading joy and giving back is what motivates us,” says co-owner, Andreina Febres. Making Waves Studios has donated over $34,000 since March 2020 and continues to donate 5% of all of their sales to help spur the change they wish to see in the world.

“Building Futures loves to forge new community ties and rooftop Zumba is definitely a first!” says Building Futures’ Director of Development and Communications, Ana Maria Mahiri. “We’re grateful Making Waves has chosen us to benefit from this fun and creative event.”
