Did you know? 140 rent checks is one way that Building Futures ends homelessness for families and individuals EVERY single month. Working with city and county funds, our dedicated case managers provide monthly rent assistance, utility payments and cover security deposits. Our talented program staff provide workforce development expertise, domestic violence counseling, childcare referrals and a range of services tailored to the family we are serving.

Ending homelessness one key at a time. Today and everyday. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

Grateful to our community of donors, volunteers, staff, board and colleagues who make it happen day in and day out.

Keep up the impactful work you all do at BFWC!!

August is Planned Giving Month! A planned gift allows you to state your values while you support services that uplift our communities. This thoughtful gesture ensures that your commitment to helping families and individuals continues. It’s your investment in the lives of your neighbors—and in a vibrant community for all. There are many ways to make an estate gift, but the most popular is a simple bequest.

Woot Woot! You remember walking into school with a new pair of shoes?

Thanks to our community of donors, every school-aged child served by the Midway, San Leandro, and Sister Me Home shelters as well as Bessie Coleman Court is back to school with something new. Shoes. Pants. Backpack.

Each kid got a gift card for $70. This weekend, their mamas are taking them to buy what they need the most. Thank you, generous community!

🏠 HOMELESSNESS IS NOT A CRIME 🚫

Building Futures is 100% committed to supporting unhoused people in our community, including people living in encampments.

Governor Newsom’s recent executive order doesn’t change that. Building Futures will keep pushing for the creation of housing and supportive services for those experiencing homelessness.

This is a challenging issue. The new executive order is not designed to help and may even harm.

Please stand with Building Futures and your neighbors who live on the streets. Stand with us against the criminalization of homelessness.
