24-hour, toll-free crisis line
We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. That's why all of
Building Futures' programs and services prioritize linking our clients with housing.

To build communities with underserved women and children, where they are safely and supportively housed, free from homelessness and domestic violence.
~ Building Futures’ Mission Statement

Building Futures, a nonprofit organization founded in 1988, is based in San Leandro with programs throughout Alameda County. Through our continuum of care, we provide resources, programs and services to help Alameda County residents build futures free from homelessness and family violence.

Our residential programs include the San Leandro and Midway Shelters (55 beds); Sister Me Home domestic violence safe house (20 beds); and Bessie Coleman Court (52 units of permanent supportive housing).

We also provide a 24-hour crisis line; and a domestic violence outreach program providing support groups in our community and at our sites, as well as individual support and resources.

In addition, our Housing Resource Center and Oakland Family Front Door provide case management and housing assistance to help individuals and families avert homelessness or become quickly rehoused after becoming homeless.
